The Redwoods
The Redwoods blues band is made up of powerful middle and high school musicians from the Omaha area. The band formed in 2016 as a part of the Blues Society of Omaha’s youth program, BluesEd. Over the years, the musicians have had an impressive record of accomplishments including OAYO, leadership roles in school jazz/concert band, traveling overseas to play with the Nebraska Youth Orchestra, as well as joining professional musicians on stage during performances. They have enjoyed playing at many venues and festivals in the Omaha area including Jazz on the Green, Playing with Fire, Taste of Omaha, Omaha Summer Arts Festival, In the Market for Blues, private events, and numerous local bars and lounges. In 2018, the band traveled to Memphis to perform at the international Blues Challenge Youth Showcase. The Redwoods play diverse Blues-Infused classic rock, funk, and traditional blues. You can catch The Redwoods out this summer sporting some jean jackets and rocking out on the stage!
Members of the Redwoods include: Jack Budzinski (drums), Riya Kumar (vocals), Izzy Worden (vocals/guitar), Bert Barger (guitar), Cameron Vakili (keys/guitar), Whitney Ingvoldstad (bass), Alex Ingvoldstad (alto saxophone), and Charlie Dencklau (tenor saxophone).
