For the second year in a row, BluesEd, a Youth Artist Development Program of the Blues Society of Omaha, will benefit from the incredible generosity of Jon Beason, founder of WoodSpirit Guitars and a passionate music fan from Seattle, WA and his connection with Playing with Fire music concerts.
The Guitar
This year’s guitar donation is extra special — the EC-1, a model co-designed by WoodSpirit and Ed Clarke of Brave Rival. Beautifully crafted and inspired by a shared love of music, the EC-1 has been gifted by Playing with Fire to support BluesEd in 2025.

The Story
What began in 2022 as a fan’s connection with Playing with Fire band When Rivers Meet has grown into a tradition of giving. After gifting a custom mandolin to WRM’s lead singer Grace in 2022, Jon's vision to support BluesEd became reality as PwF proudly accepted his masterpiece, Mean Green, in 2024, and donated it to BluesEd for a fundraising initiative.
Jon’s vision to support youth in music continues to grow. Let the chords of generosity and harmony resonate! The BluesEd program will host a raffle for the guitar to raise money for the program.
The Contest
Now is your chance to own a one-of-a-kind instrument while helping the next generation of musicians thrive! The public can purchase raffle tickets via zeffy.com or in person at select BluesEd gigs, BSO events, Playing with Fire (July 25-26 and August 15-16 ) and In the Market for Blues (August 9). Raffle tickets are 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. The contest will be held from June 16, 2025 to August 16, 2025.
